Using the excellent advice of Oppo, I attempted a restart this evening using carb cleaner through the carb bore. I’ve got spark, starts then sputters out— carb seems to be working fine at distributing some fumes, yet no sustained running. Pulled the fuel line off and there’s nothing in there— doesn’t even smell like fumes. I think either my pump is burnt out or the line heading to the filter is clogged (can blow through filter line through the carb no problems). I’m gonna double down and guess that the line is clogged, and that I probably burnt out the fuel pump attempting to start it through a clogged line yesterday. The pump used to make a comforting clicking noise when power was being sent to the circuit but the starter wasn’t engaged— now, just disconcerting silence.
Going to try blowing out the line with carb cleaner and pressurized air tomorrow; buy and install a new pump if it still fails to deliver fuel to the carb.

Will it start/chug if you squirt gas down the venturis?

Haven’t tried that— I suppose I could search around the house for something to clean out and use as a gasoline spray bottle... or hit the dollar store tomorrow.
That said, I don’t know how different cars are from bikes— but usually with a bike if you disconnected a fuel line input there’d be at least some residual fuel in there from the last startup... I should be able to snag an extra pair of hands tomorrow afternoon/evening to experiment a little more, hold a fuel-catch pan below the line while running the starter, for instance, to see if it’s pumping anything. I think it’s running as dry as the desert... :/

Wrapped and tightened a bag around the fuel input line and cranked the engine for about 10 seconds— no fuel transferred to the bag; I don’t really understand exactly how mechanical fuel pumps work but I think that means it’s not delivering any fuel to the carb, unless it’s some sort of vacuum actuated machincally assisted device... do you happen to know?

It does sound like your pump is shot. One more thing you can try is to take the feed hose off of the pump and attach another small section of hose. Stick the other end of that new section into a gas can and see if it pulls fuel up. Just to eliminate the possibility of a clog in the tank.

Yeah, it makes sense. I remember I spent weeks trying to figure out why my 280zx was running poorly, then the fuel pump died. I’ll have to see if I can get a new mechanical pump, or whether I have to replace it with an electronic unit.
Will give that test a try; there could be clogs anywhere on this car; I’m not even sure if it has 30K or 130K on the odometer :-P Either would cause it’s own unique problems— time will tell based on which I run into, I suppose.

You can also try blowing compressed air down the line going to the tank. If there’s a clog you might free it up.

Yeah, I tried with my lungs and couldn’t blow through the feed line— I wasn’t sure if the fuel pump would allow back pressure. I’ll have to disconnect those lines to the tank and pump to really figure it out— but I’m about 90% sure it’s the pump itself. That clicking noise before— totally gone now. I’m guessing that was the pump. The PO hooked up the ignition cylinder (which all the power runs through) wrong, so it could be the pump isn’t even supposed to be powered in the ACC position... as for rewiring the IC, I’m terrible with wiring so I’m going to take it to a shop for that, unless I can find a more electrically inclined friend...

Jalop solution. Cheap electric pump and an external fuel tank. Keep a fire extinguisher handy.
